The Integrative Treatment Approach for SchooAge Children Who Stutter – part 4
Posted by admin in Art EssaysWhile demonstrating the healing effect of art therapy it was stated that creation of art shifts patients temporarily from the real world of sickness and pain to a world which gives a feeling of the absence of disease in them. As a result they are often able to overcome the feeling of pain, fear and anxiety experiencing a truly therapeutic effect of art making (Malchiodi, 1998). During the phase of art making the attention of the patients often shift from the illness they are suffering from bringing about a temporary phase of normalcy among them. Illness makes people lose control over their bodies but through the process of art making they can have a sense of control at least on their souls and this enables the patients to regain some amount of confidence (Malchiodi, 1998). The psychological perceptions of certain situation have also been found to be expressed very clearly through drawings such as self image with a ghost expressing the fear of death of a girl undergoing operation.
